Bulldogs pull even in the North Division at 3-3

GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs picked up two big North Division wins here Monday after taking two games from East Mississippi Community College, 5-3 and 6-4.

With the wins, the Bulldogs moved to 13-12 overall and 3-3 in the North Division.

In game one, the Bulldogs fell behind 3-0 in the fifth inning before storming back in the sixth inning to pull out the win. In the inning, freshman Trey Goff, Jaylan Bledsoe and Josh Crowder each singled with Crowder picking up two RBIs before Jordan Taylor doubled in Crowder and Steven Blanchard doubling in Taylor before the Lions could get out of the inning. Bledsoe, Crowder, Taylor, Goff and Blanchard each had two hits with Taylor adding a double.

Steven Blanchard picked up the win in game one. He pitched the entire seven innings and gave up five hits and three runs in the game.

In game two, East Mississippi jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first three innings before the Bulldogs battled their way back. The Bulldogs brought the game back to 4-3 in the third before taking over the lead for good in the bottom of the fourth.  Crowder, Taylor, Chris Steverson and LaDerick Williams each picked up two hits for the Bulldogs while Cole McBride and Blanchard each singled.

Jason Hursey started the game for the Bulldogs in game two pitching only 2 1/3 innings before giving way to Goff in the top of the third. Goff went the remaining 4 2/3 innings and didn't allow a hit picking up the win.
