JACKSON --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs fell to 9-6 overall here Friday at Smith-Wills Stadium with a 15-14 10-inning loss to the Southwest Mississippi Community College Bears.
Holmes is scheduled to play at East Mississippi on Tuesday at 4/7 p.m. The Bulldogs then host East Central Community College at 1/3 p.m. on Saturday.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a 12-5 lead after five innings, and the Bears fought their way back into it and took the lead at 14-12 after seven innings complete. Holmes answered with two runs in the bottom of the eighth to tie the game at 14. Southwest scored a run in the top of the tenth to pull out the win.
Cody Sartin led the Bulldogs with four hits including a double while Terrell Hodges had three hits while Jarvis Griffith, Kevin Barber, and Geoffery King each had two hits. Lucas Kirkland added a triple and Chad McNeil added a double.
In two games in Baton Rouge on March 6, the Bulldogs defeated Bishop State, 11-4 and fell to Baton Rouge, 3-2.
In the win over Bishop State, Cole Feazell picked up his fourth win of the season, and Kris Brown got the save. Feazell went four innings and gave up four runs on seven hits with four strikeouts while Brown gave up no runs and struck out five. McNeil led the Bulldogs with four hits including a homerun. Maverick Keffer had three hits while Jarvis Griffith had two hits. McNeil had three RBI.
In the loss to Baton Rouge, Derrick Sylve took the loss. He went five innings and gave up three runs on four hits with three strikeouts and four walks while Michael Harrison gave up one hits and had two strikeouts. King had two hits including a double.
