SENATOBIA --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs ended its season Monday afternoon here with a split with the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers. Holmes fell in the first game, 10-8 and won the second game, 10-4.
With the split, the Bulldogs finished 22-20 overall and 13-15 in the MACJC. The Bulldogs finished the season tied for eighth place and lost the tiebreaker to Southwest. The top eight teams head to the MACJC Playoffs this weekend.
In game one, Tony Taylor suffered the loss in relief for the Bulldogs. Taylor pitched 2/3 of an inning and gave up two runs with four walks. Cody Greer got the start and went six innings and gave up five runs on eight hits with four strikeouts and three walks. Rob Felton threw an inning and gave up three runs on two hits while Cody Shaw pitched 1/3 of an inning. Chad McNeil led the Bulldogs with three hits including a homerun and a double. Carr McMorris and Jackson Jones each had two hits with McMorris adding a double.
In game two, Derrick Sylve went the entire seven innings and gave up four runs on four hits with seven strikeouts and 10 walks. Terrell Hodges and Jarvis Griffith each had two hits with Hodges adding a double. Maverick Keffer had a three-run homerun.
The Bulldogs took two games Pearl River on Saturday. Holmes won game one, 8-7, and won the second game, 13-9.
In game one, Rob Felton picked up the win in 1/3 of an inning. He gave up one run on one hit. Cole Feazell picked up the save. He gave up one run on two hits with two strikeouts. Kris Brown started the game and went 5 2/3 innings and gave up five runs on nine hits with three strikeouts. McNeil and Geoffery King each had two hits with McNeil adding a homerun. Griffith added a double.
In game two, Michael Harrison picked up the win in relief. Harrison went 4 2/3 innings and gave up two runs on two hits with one strikeout and one walk. Feazell started the game and went 2 1/3 innings and gave up seven runs on five hits with one strikeout and two walks. McNeil led the Bulldogs with three hits while Tyler Hines and McMorris each had two hits. Cody Sartin added a homerun.
