Holmes splits with Northwest

GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs and the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers split two MACJC Conference games here Wednesday. Northwest won game one, 12-3, and Holmes won the second game, 8-4.

With the split, Holmes went to 10-8 overall and 1-1 in the MACJC. Holmes travels to Southwest on Saturday in a 1/4 p.m. doubleheader. Holmes plays East Mississippi at home on March 22 at 2/5 p.m.

In game one, Michael Harrison suffered the loss. We went 2 2/3 innings and gave up four runs on four hits with two strikeouts and two walks. Peyton Sullivan, Ryan Sticker, Ben Hudson, Justin Hutton and Will Hyche also pitched in the game. Jarvis Griffith and Corbin Jamison each led the Bulldogs with three hits with Griffith adding a double. Sloan Dieter, Tyler Hines and Jaylan Baker each had two hits.

In game two, Dieter picked up the win. He went four innings and gave up two runs on two hits with four strikeouts and one walk. Cody Greer got the start and went two innings. He gave up two runs on five hits with one strikeout and two walks. Christian Smith, Geoffery King, Luke Lambert, Baker and Colin Merritt each had two hits. Brodie Threet added a double.
