GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs fell twice here Tuesday to the East Mississippi Community College Lions, 12-11 in 10 innings and 5-0.
With the losses, the Bulldogs fell to 11-11 overall and 2-4 in the MACJC. Holmes travels to East Central on Friday.
In game one, the Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead and led 4-2 after four innings. East scored seven runs in the seventh to jump ahead 9-4 before the Bulldogs scored six runs in the bottom of the inning to lead 10-9. The Lions retook the lead in the eighth 11-9 before the Bulldogs tied the game in the bottom of the ninth at 11. East scored in the top of the 10th to pull out the win.
Peyton Sullivan suffered the loss and fell to 0-2 on the season. Sullivan went 2 2/3 innings and gave up one run on one hit with three strikeouts and three walks. Cody Greer started the game and went six innings and gave up eight runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and two walks while Michael Harrison went 1 1/3 innings and gave up three runs on five hits with one strikeout and two walks. Sloan Dieter got his third homerun of the year and added a double and a single. Colin Merritt also had three hits while Christian Smith and Corbin Jamison each had two with Smith adding a double.
In game two, Dieter suffered the loss and fell to 2-1 on the season. Dieter went one inning and gave up one run on four hits. Will Hyche finished the game going six innings and giving up four runs on three hits with three strikeouts and two walks. Ben Hudson had a double.
