GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs split two games here Tuesday with the Mississippi Delta Community College Trojans winning game one, 6-4, and falling in game two in 11 innings, 9-6.
With the split, the Bulldogs went to 12-14 overall and 3-7 in the MACJC. Holmes plays tomorrow versus Gulf Coast at 1/4 p.m.
In game one, Cody Greer got the start and went seven innings and gave up four runs on six hits with eight strikeouts and one walk. Will Hyche went one inning and picked up the win. He gave up two hits and had one strikeout. Sloan Dieter went one inning and gave up a hit with one strikeout. Geoffery King led the Bulldogs with three hits including a homerun, his first of his career. Christian Smith added a double.
In game two, Dieter got the start and went five innings and gave up three runs on four hits with three strikeouts and three walks. Chase Allen, Peyton Sullivan, Scott Shearer and Justin Hutton also threw in the game. Shearer took the loss with 4 1/3 innings of work. He gave up three runs on four hits with one walk. Baker led with three hits. Brodie Threet picked up his first homerun of his career and Dieter added his fifth homerun.
