Bulldogs split with Meridian Eagles

MERIDIAN --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs split two games with No. 7 Meridian Community College here Saturday. Holmes won game one, 7-4, and fell 4-3, in game two.

With the split, the Bulldogs went to 19-17 overall and 10-10 and stayed in playoff contention. Holmes hosts Jones on Tuesday at 2/5 p.m. and then travel to Copiah-Lincoln Community College on Saturday at 2/5 p.m.

In game one, Scott Shearer went the entire nine innings and picked up the win and went to 5-2 on the season. He gave up four runs on 12 hits with one strikeout. Sloan Dieter, Jarvis Griffith and Colin Merritt each had two hits with Dieter adding a three-run homerun. Jaylan Baker added a double.

In game two, Shelby Craddock went seven innings and picked up the loss to fall to 4-3 on the season. He gave up four runs on six hits with six strikeouts and two walks. Ben Hudson and Griffith each had two hits. Corbin Jamison added a homerun.
