Bulldogs take two games from Spoon River, 18-0 and 6-5

GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs picked up two wins here Wednesday over Spoon River, 18-0 in five innings and 6-5 in eight innings. With the 18-0 in game one, Head Coach Kenny Dupont picked up his 500th win as Holmes' head coach. He's also the winningest active head coach in the MACJC with 501 wins.

With the wins, the Bulldogs went to 8-8 overall. The Bulldogs are at Blue Mountain JV Thursday and then return home vs. Southwest on Saturday at 1/4 p.m. to open the MACJC slate of games.

In game one, Landry Newsom got the start on the hill and picked up the win. Newsom went two innings and gave up one hit with two strikeouts. Jeff Crenshaw went two innings and gave up two hits with two strikeouts and Chase Allen went one inning and gave up no hits. Will Jordan and Newsom each had two hits with Newsom adding a double. Sage Mullins and Jeb Malley added triples while Brodie Threet and Zach Boone each had a double.

In game two, Scott Shearer got the start in game two. Shearer went two innings and gave up one run three hits with one strikeout. Justin Hutton went two innings and gave up no runs on two hits with three strikeouts. Peyton Sullivan went one inning and gave up three runs on three hits with three walks and one strikeout. Brodie Threet went the final three innings and picked up the win. He gave up one run on five hits with one strikeout and two walks.

Newsom added a two-run homerun and Dylan Creel had a double.

In game two, Josh Tucker got a walk-off hit to score Malley from third to win the game in the eighth inning.
