Bulldogs lose close games to Rangers, 7-6 and 7-4

SENATOBIA --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs took the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers to extra innings here Tuesday but fell 7-6 in 10 innings. The Bulldogs dropped the nightcap to the Rangers, 7-4.

With the losses, the Bulldogs fell to 11-15 overall and 2-6 in the MACJC. Holmes travels to Gulf Coast on Saturday at 1/4 p.m.

In game one, Scott Shearer went eight innings and gave up six runs on 10 hits with four strikeouts and one walk. Justin Hutton went 1 2/3 innings and gave up one run on two hits with three strikeouts and one walk and suffered the loss. Chandler Powell and Jeb Malley each led the Bulldogs with three hits while Chris Prentiss, Keelyn Johnson and Josh Tucker each had two hits.

In game two, Nick Lawrence went 4 2/3 innings and gave up seven runs on 10 hits with two strikeouts and three walks. Peyton Sullivan went 1/3 of an inning and Chase Allen went one inning and had one strikeout and one walk. Brodie Threet led the Bulldogs with a double.
