Bulldogs split with MDCC Trojans

MOORHEAD --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs split two games here with the Mississippi Delta Community College Trojans winning 20-6 in game one and falling 6-4 in game two.

With the split, the Bulldogs move to 12-22 and 3-13 in the MACJC. Holmes hosts Meridian at 1/4 p.m. on Friday and then hosts Northeast on April 19 at 1/4 p.m. and Co-Lin on April 22 at 1/4 p.m.

In game one, Scott Shearer pitched seven innings and picked up the win. He gave up six runs on 14 hits with one strikeout and one walk. Peyton Sullivan had three hits including a homerun and a double while Landry Newsom, Brodie Threet, Keelyn Johnson, Jeb Malley and Zach Boone each had two hits. Malley had a triple and a double while Threet had a homerun and Chandler Powell and Kyle Singleton each added a double. Both homeruns were two-run homeruns.

In game two, Landry Newsom got the start and went 3 1/3 innings. He gave up two runs on seven hits with two walks and one strikeout. Jeff Crenshaw suffered the loss and went three innings. He gave up four runs on six hits with five strikeouts and four walks. Threet had three hits including a solo homerun while Malley added a double.
