Bulldogs lose heartbreakers to Meridian Eagles, 13-12 and 10-7

GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs suffered two heartbreaking losses here Friday versus Meridian Community College falling 13-12 and 10-7.

With the losses, the Bulldogs fell to 12-24 overall and 3-15 in the MACJC. Holmes hosts Northeast tomorrow at 1/4 p.m. and Copiah-Lincoln at 1/4 p.m. Saturday.

In game one, Chase Allen suffered the loss. He gave up three runs on three hits. Nick Lawrence started the game and went eight innings and gave up 10 runs on 12 hits with five strikeouts and six walks. Peyton Sullivan went one inning and gave up no runs.

Landry Newsom and Chandler Powell each had three hits with Newsom adding a homerun and a double. Brodie Threet, Kyle Singleton and Zach Boone each had two hits with Boone having two homeruns with one being a three-run and one a solo shot. Holmes led 12-8 heading into the ninth and gave up five runs.

In game two, Chase Allen suffered the loss. He gave up three runs on four hits with three strikeouts. Sloan Dieter started the game and gave up six runs on four hits with four strikeouts and five walks. Sullivan gave up one run on two hits with two strikeouts and three walks. Newsom and Singleton each had two hits including a double for each.
