Bulldogs take two from Coahoma Tigers, 8-4 and 7-5

GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs swept the final home doubleheader of the season today, 8-4 and 7-5.

With the wins, the Bulldogs went to 14-28 overall and 5-19 in the MACJC. Holmes travels to Pearl River Saturday for a doubleheader at 2/5 p.m. and then finishes the season at Jones on Wednesday, May 3 at 2/5 p.m.

In game one, Scott Shearer got the start and went 6 1/3 innings and gave up four runs on eight hits with three strikeouts and five walks. Peyton Sullivan went 2 2/3 innings and gave up no runs on one hit with three strikeouts. Sage Mullins led the Bulldogs with three hits including a double. Brodie Threet and Zach Boone each had two hits. Boone had a double and a two-run homerun while Threet added a double. Logan Bell had a triple.

In game two, Landry Newsom got the start and went 4 1/3 innings and gave up five runs one eight hits with one strikeout. Sullivan went two innings and gave up no runs on two hits with two strikeouts and two walks. Newsom, Chandler Powell and Josh Tucker each had two hits. Tucker had a homerun and a double while Newsom added a homerun.
