Holmes loses offensive battle with Northwest, 66-41

SENATOBIA --- Twelve hundred yards of offense between both the Holmes Community College Bulldogs and the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers resulted in 107 points between the two, and a 66-41 Ranger win in the North Division contest here Saturday.
With the loss, the Bulldogs dropped to 2-6 on the season and 2-3 in the North Division. The Bulldogs will play their final game of the season on Thursday night in Goodman versus East Mississippi Community College. The Rangers got on the scoreboard with 12:28 remaining in the first quarter when Ranger quarterback Ryan Mossakowski found Marcus Henry on a 16-yard touchdown strike. Chase Carpenter's extra point put the Rangers up 7-0.
Northwest increased the lead to 10-0 with 9:36 to go in the first quarter when Carpenter nailed a 24-yard field goal.
Henry then hooked up again with Mossakowski for another score, this one from 79 yards out. Carpenter's kick made the score 17-0 with 6:54 to go in the first quarter.
The Rangers then went up 24-0 when Al Hentz scored from 10 yards out, and Carpenter added the extra point with 3:36 left in the first quarter.
The Bulldogs then got on the scoreboard early in the second quarter when Ladarius Redditt scored from three yards out. Mitchell Huff's extra point made the score 24-7 with 13:28 left in the second quarter.
The Holmes defense then got points on the board when Dahendrick Thompson intercepted Mossakowski and raced in for the 13-yard touchdown. Huff's kick was no good to make the score 24-13 with 10:53 left in the first half.
Northwest answered the score as Henry caught his third touchdown of the game from Mossakowski, this one from six yards out. Carpenter's kick was good to make the score 31-13 with 7:03 left in the first half.
Holmes got its final points of the first half with 41 seconds left when Dennis Robertson found Ledrick Patterson in the endzone from 11 yards out. Huff's kick made the score 31-20 at the half.
The Rangers then ripped off two touchdowns in the first six minutes of the second half to go up 38-20. Hentz scored his second rushing touchdown with 11:10 to go in the third and Dominique Harris connected with Lance Ray from 29-yards out with 8:43 to go in the third quarter. Carpenter added two extra points.
Jamal Bass got the Bulldogs on the scoreboard with 1:59 left in the third quarter when he raced in from 21-yards out on a pass from Robertson. Huff's kick was good to make the score 45-27.
Hentz's third rushing touchdown came in the 1:41 left in the third quarter from 59 yards out. Carpenter's extra point was good to make the score 52-27.
The Bulldogs then got on the scoreboard again when Redditt raced in from seven yards out. Huff's kick made the score, 52-34 with 14:14 left in the game.
Five minutes later, Redditt then scored his third touchdown of the game when Robertson found him from 41-yards out. Huff's kick was good with 9:02 to make the score 52-41.
The Rangers then answered the score right back when Ray took the kickoff and raced in from 73 yards out. Carpenter's kick made the score 59-41.
Northwest's final score came with 4:10 left in the game when Teshadi Talton scored from 25 yards out. Carpenter's kick was good to end all scoring at 66-41.
Robertson finished the game 26-of-42 for 384 yards and three touchdowns. Bass led the Bulldogs with eight catches for 73 yards while Redditt had six catches for 94 yards, Patterson six catches for 54 yards, Jonathan Rumph four catches for 80 yards and Jamel Johnson had two catches for 83 yards.
Redditt led the Bulldogs in rushing with 133 yards on 31 carries and two touchdowns.
Wesley Jackson led the Bulldogs with 10 tackles while Thompson had nine and Cedrick Tillman, Bobby Hill and Robert Lowe each had eight and Taj Letman had six tackles.
