RAYMOND --- After getting in a hole here Thursday night against the Hinds Eagles, the Holmes Community College Bulldogs battled back and took a lead in the fourth quarter but couldn't hang on as Hinds scored late to win, 32-28.

On the Bulldogs first play, the Bulldogs mishandled a handoff, and Hinds recovered at the Holmes 11 yard line. Two plays later the Eagles went up on a six yard touchdown pass with 12:19 to play in the first quarter. The extra point was no good.
With 8:08 to play in the first quarter, the Bulldogs mishandled a handoff again, and the Eagles got the ball at the Holmes 30 yard line. The Eagles scored from five yards out with 6:44 to play in the first quarter. The extra point was good, and Hinds led 13-0.
Holmes got on the scoreboard late in the first half with six seconds to play when Dejerric Bryant found A'Darius Benson on a 47-yard touchdown pass. Alex Robles' extra point was no good, and Hinds led 13-6 at halftime.
Hinds got on the scoreboard in the third quarter on fourth and 10 play on a 30-yard touchdown pass. The extra point was no good, and Hinds led 19-6 with 7:18 to play in the third quarter.
Holmes answered the score with 2:19 left in the third when Dre' Massey scored from five yards out. Robles' extra point was good to make the score 19-13 Hinds.
Hinds answered the score with a 33-yard touchdown pass with two seconds left in the third quarter. The two-point play was no good, and Hinds led 25-13.
After a 27-yard kickoff return by Antavius Moody to the Holmes 37, Bryant connected with Massey on a 63-yard touchdown pass with 14:50 to play in the game. Robles' extra point was good to make the score 25-20 Hinds.
The Bulldogs took their first lead of the game at 28-20 when Bryant scored from a yard out with 8:17 to play. Bryant then connected with Massey on the two-point conversion.
Later in the quarter, the Eagles took advantage of botched punt by the Bulldogs and got the ball at the Holmes 37 and later took it in for the score from three yards out. The extra point was good ending all scoring.
The Bulldogs had 414 of total offense, 226 on the ground and 188 in the air. Bryant had 94 yards on 18 carries for Holmes to lead in rushing. He was 6-of-12 for 188 yards and two touchdowns passing with one interception. Massey had three catches for 106 yards and a touchdown.
