Six Bulldogs named to All-State, All-Region teams

Six Holmes Community College Bulldogs have been named to the MACJC All-State Team for 2015, and one has been named First Team All-Region.

Holmes had five first team selections and one second team selection. First Team All-State selections included Dre Massey, Tripp Janssen, Josiah Coatney, Jamar Smith and Sean Harper. Brandon Poore was named Second Team All-State. Massey was named All-Region.

Massey, who played running back, finished the season with 452 rushing yards on 59 carries and three touchdowns. He also caught 21 passes for 548 yards and six touchdowns. Janssen and Poore were second-year players along the offensive front.

Defensively, Smith, who played linebacker, led the Bulldogs in tackles with 59 including three sacks and six tackles for loss. Coatney, who played along the defensive line, had 46 tackles including three sacks, 8.5 tackles for loss and one interception return for a touchdown along with two blocked kicks. Harper, who played cornerback, had 38 tackles with two sacks, three tackles for loss and two interceptions.

Honorable mention selections included: Montez Hairston, OL; Aquindus Henson, RB; Dejerric Bryant, QB; D.J. Montgomery, WR; Theron Hodges, DL; Willie Cooper, DL; Buddy Benson, LB; and Qmond Woods, DB.
