Nine Bulldogs to play in the MACJC All-Star Game

Nine members of the Holmes Community College Bulldog football team have secured positions in the Dec. 5 MACJC All-Star Game at Biloxi Indian Stadium at 11:30 a.m.

Included in the game are Kris Newson, defensive back, Columbia; Jalen Thomas, wide receiver, Cleveland; Montez Hairston, offensive lineman, Water Valley; Cob Summers, offensive lineman, Southaven; Tripp Janssen, offensive lineman, Starkville; A'Darius Benson, wide receiver, Crystal Springs; Willie Cooper, defensive lineman, Savannah, Ga.; Theron Hodges, defensive lineman, Jackson; and Javonte' McAdory, defensive lineman, French Camp.

Newson finished the season with 22 tackles including 18 solos and four assisted tackles, one tackle for loss and three broken up passes. Thomas, who played quarterback during the season, was 1-for 4 passing and carried the ball 15 times for 47 yards. Hairston, Summers and Janssen started along the offensive front for the last two seasons for the Bulldogs.

Benson caught six passes for 91 yards and one touchdown. He also had three carries for 60 yards. Cooper finished the season with 40 tackles including 23 solo tackles and 17 assisted tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, one sack, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery with a 24-yard return. Hodges had 19 solo tackles and 24 assisted tackles along with six tackles for loss, one sack, one pass break-up, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. McAdory had 14 tackles, two pass break-ups and .5 tackles for loss.
