Bulldogs move to 3-0 and 1-0 in the North Division

GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs scored 41 points in the first half and defeated the Mississippi Delta Community College Trojans, 41-0, in the North Division opener for both teams.

Holmes got on the scoreboard with 8:20 left in the first quarter on an eight yard pass to Antavius Moody from Dejerric Bryant. Caleb Shelly's extra point was good giving Holmes the 7-0 lead.

The Bulldogs scored again in the first quarter with 6:10 left to play when Tevin Wooten scored from 13 yards out. Shelly's kick made the score 14-0.

Holmes another score in the first quarter when Bryant scored from a yard out. The extra point was no good, and Holmes led 20-0.

The Bulldogs scored three times in the second quarter. Treviante McDaniel scored from 72 yards out with 13:18 in the second. The extra point was good, and Holmes led 27-0. Bryant then connected with D.J. Montgomery on a 38-yard touchdown pass. Shelly's kick made the score 34-0 Holmes with 10:12 left in the second. The final score of the game came with 2:20 in the second when P.J. Simmons scored from nine yards out. Shelly's kick was good ending all scoring at 41-0.

A running clock the remainder of the second quarter and the second half finished the game at 8:30 p.m. with no scoring in the second half.

Cameryn Brent led the Bulldogs with 141 yards on 13 carries while McDaniel had 110 yards on six carries and a touchdown. Bryant was 4-of-6 for 65 yards and two touchdowns. Montgomery caught one pass for 38 yards. The Bulldogs finished with 484 total yards with 419 yards on the ground.

Delta finished the game with 40 total yards. Vada King led the Bulldogs with seven tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss while Desmond Lester had six with one tackle for loss, and Quindarrius Whitley had five tackles with one sack and one tackle for loss.
