GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs fell 35-21 in a non-division contest here Thursday night to the Copiah-Lincoln Community College Wolves.
With the loss, the Bulldogs fell to 4-3 overall. Holmes is 2-2 in the North Division and move back into division play on Thursday night at Northeast Mississippi Community College at 6:30 p.m. You can listen live on the Bulldog Football Network or watch live at nemcctv.com.
The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard first in the first quarter with 8:46 to go when sophomore running back P.J. Simmons carried it in from 13 yards out. The extra point was blocked, and Holmes led 6-0.
The Wolves then answered the score with a touchdown run with 5:20 left in the first quarter. The extra point was good, and Co-Lin took the lead for good at that point.
Co-Lin then added three scores in the second quarter on two touchdown runs and a touchdown pass. One came with 10:52, one with 7:44 and one with 3:26 left in the second quarter. The extra points were good, and Co-Lin led 28-6 at halftime.
The Wolves scored early in the third quarter with 12:33 left on a touchdown pass. The extra point put Co-Lin up 35-6 after the extra point was good.
Holmes scored in the third quarter with 10:44 left to play when sophomore running back Matt Fuller raced in from 54 yards out. Shelly's extra point was good, and Co-Lin led 35-13.
The Bulldogs' final score came with 7:14 left in the game when sophomore quarterback Dejerric Bryant connected with freshman receiver Kavonte Younger from 35 yards out. Matt Fuller raced in for the two-point conversion to end the scoring at 35-21 Co-Lin.
Fuller finished with 94 yards on 12 carries.
Jamar Smith led the Bulldogs with eight tackles while Qmond Woods and Buddy Benson each had seven. Woods, Benson, Desmond Lester, E.J. Bounds, Vada King, Ramone Reed and Isaiah Wolfe each had a tackle for loss.
