Bulldogs claim the Graphic Edge Bowl Championship in Cedar Falls, Iowa
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The Holmes Community College Bulldogs made history Sunday by winning their first NJCAA Bowl with a 28-21 win over the Iowa Western Community College Reivers in the Graphic Edge Bowl. Holmes trailed 21-14 at halftime, but the Holmes defense stiffened in the second half, and the offense used big plays to pull out the win.

Joining the Holmes Community College Bulldog football program as offensive coordinator is Tim Stowers, who brings extensive experience serving as head coach at Georgia Southern University and the University of Rhode Island. Spencer, Givens receive prestigious team awards
For the last two seasons, Holmes Community College sophomores Matt Spencer of Brandon and Kris Givens of Ridgeland led the Bulldog football team on the field and have been recognized by their peers with MACJC and NJCAA honors. Watt and Triplett named MACJC/JucoWeekly Players of the Week
Holmes Community College’s Quay Watt and Terrious Triplett have been named the MACJC/JucoWeekly Players of the Week for their play last week.
Watt, a sophomore linebacker from Abbeville, S.C., had 13 tackles including eight solos. He had a tackle for loss for five yards.
Triplett, a sophomore from Memphis, blocked a punt that was returned for a touchdown by Jammie Jamison, and he also blocked an extra point. He also finished the game with five tackles, one tackle for loss and a pass breakup.

Seven Bulldogs honored by the MACJC, Region XXIII
Seven Holmes Community College Bulldogs received post-season honors from the MACJC and NJCAA after the Bulldogs finished 5-4 overall and 4-2 in the North Division. Wide receiver Jonathan Rumph, offensive lineman Jamarcus Robinson and return specialist Jacorie Ousley took top honors by being named First Team All-State, and Rumph was named First Team All-Region XXIII.
