Bulldogs have 19 out for preseason practice
Of the 19 players on the 2011-12 Holmes Community College men's basketball roster, only two of them played for Holmes last season, Omar Travis (6'2, 195, forward, Canton High School) and Marcus Harper (5'11, 170, guard, Lanier High School).
The Bulldogs had to have help late last season from other MACJC schools to get to the postseason but came up a little short.
Three players, Kaleb Knight (6'6, 218, center, Frank Phillips College, Texas and Christian Life High School, La.), Deangelo Priar (6'2, 190, guard, Meridian Community College and S.V. Marshall High School) and Emmanuel Dias (6'6, 215, forward, Central Florida College and Evelyn Mack Academy, N.C.) are all transfers, which gets the sophomore count up to five on this year's squad.
The team features three freshman players from Durant High School (Cody James , 6'5, 205, forward; Tiven Marzette, 6', 165, guard; and Travis Johnson, 6'1, 215, guard); two from Canton (Kenitric Gillum, 5'11, 171, guard and Demarcus Lewis, 6'4, 207, forward); two from Wingfield (Daveon Slaughter, 6'4, 197, forward, and Shelton Willis, 6'1, 173, guard ) and one player each from Murrah (Daniel Francis, 6'2, 195, guard), Long Beach (Kino Davis, 6', 174), Gulfport (Donnell Nicholas, 5'9, 166, guard), Central Park Christian in Atlanta (Torrance Rowe, 6', 150, guard), Yazoo County (DeAndre Scott, 6'1, 175, guard), S.V. Marshall (Kelvin Smith, 6'7, 198, center) and Immanuel Christian School (Wade Lee, 6'6, 165, guard).
