Bulldogs head to Region XXIII Thursday versus Pearl River

GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs found out Friday that they would be playing state-runner up Pearl River in the first round of the Region XXIII Tournament on Thursday at  3  p.m. at Mississippi College.

The Bulldogs head into the Region Tournament with a 17-8 record. The Bulldogs knocked off the Hinds Bulldogs in the opening round of the MACJC State Tournament before falling to the Mississipi Gulf Coast Community College Bulldogs on Thursday in overtime in the state semi-finals. Pearl River defeated Northwest on Monday, East Mississippi on Thursday and then fell to to Gulf Coast in the State Championship on Thursday night. 

The Bulldogs played Pearl River twice this season, winning 90-59 in Goodman and 63-52 in Poplarville.

Other teams in the men's bracket include: East Mississippi vs. Jones, 1 p.m., Thursday; Gulf Coast vs. Hinds, 6 p.m., Thursday and Southern Shreveport vs. Northwest, 8 p.m., Thursday. The Bulldogs will play the winner of East Mississippi-Jones on Friday at 6 p.m. if they get past the Wildcats on Thursday.
