GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College men's basketball team will take a break during the Christmas holidays after finishing the Fall semester with a 2-0 North Division record and a 6-4 record overall.
The Bulldogs will return to play on Jan. 6 in Utica against Hinds Community College and then will return in a home game versus Southwest Mississippi Community College on Jan. 8.
Holmes is averaging 76.3 points per game in all games and 87 points per game in North Division contests while their opponents are averaging 53 points per game and only 67 points per game in North Division contests.
Freshman guard Daryl Macon is leading the Bulldogs in scoring with a 25.2 points per game average. He's averaging 29.5 points per game in North Division contests. Macon leads the team with a 50 percent average from behind the three-point line, has 42 assists so far on the season and is shooting 87 percent from the free throw line.
Sophomore guard Marcus Washington is scoring 11.7 points per game in all games and 12.0 points in North Division contests. Washington has 74 rebounds on the season and has a 6.7 rebound per game average to lead the team.
Freshman forward Dietrich Taylor has 49 rebounds and is averaging six points per game but is averaging 14 points per game in North Division action.
Freshman forward Cedric Harper leads the team in blocks with 17 and has 63 total rebounds thus far on the season.
