UTICA --- Holmes Community College sophomore guard Daryl Macon lit the Hinds Community College Bulldogs up here Thursday night with 39 points shooting nearly 50 percent from the floor and 85 percent from the free throw line as Holmes won the non-division contest, 82-71.
With the win, the Bulldogs move to 6-0 on the season. Holmes hosts Southern University-Shreveport tomorrow in Goodman at 4 p.m.
Holmes led 43-32 at halftime, and both teams tied at 39 in the second half.
Macon finished the first half with 26 points. He shot 8-of-15 from the floor including 5-of-10 from the three-point line and 18-of-21 from the free throw line. He also pulled in 11 rebounds. Dietrich Taylor was the only other Bulldog in double figures with 12.
As a team, the Bulldogs shot 46 percent from the floor, 41.2 percent from the three-point line and 82.9 percent from the free throw line.
