Through the first 10 games of the season, the Holmes Community College Bulldogs are holding an 8-2 record and a 1-1 North Division record.
The Bulldogs picked up wins over Copiah-Lincoln, Baton Rouge, Jones, William Carey, Pearl River, Hinds, Southern-Shreveport and Coahoma and fell to Northwest and Southwest Tenn. by a total of seven points.
The team returns from Christmas break on Friday and will begin preparation for the next regular season game on Tuesday, Jan. 5 versus Southern-Shreveport. The first home game of second semester is Jan. 7 versus Hinds at 8 p.m. Division play begins on Jan. 11 at home versus Itawamba Community College.
Sophomore guard Daryl Macon leads the Bulldogs in scoring with 24.4 points per game while Cedric Harper has a 13.3 per game average and D'Angelo Richardson has 10.4 points per game. Macon is shooting 49.5 percent from the floor, 41.7 percent from three-point range and 84.5 percent from the free throw line. Harper is shooting 56.3 percent from the floor and 66 percent from the free throw line while Richardson is shooting 41.9 percent from the floor, 33.3 percent from the three-point line and 59.3 percent from the free throw line.
Harper leads the Bulldogs with 77 rebounds or a 7.7 per game average. Richardson leads in assists with 4.4 assists per game and Macon had 3.4 assists per game.
As a team, the Bulldogs are shooting 49.3 percent from the floor, 36.8 percent from the three-point line and 73.4 percent from the free throw line. Holmes is averaging 79.8 points per game and giving up 49.4 points per game. The Bulldogs bring in 32.7 rebounds per game and is averaging 13.7 assists and 7.3 steals per game.
