Bulldogs improve to .500 on the season with win over Baton Rouge

GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs went to .500 on the season at 6-6 with a 70-53 win over Baton Rouge Community College here Monday night.

Holmes travels to Mississippi Delta on Thursday to move back into division play at 8 p.m.

Holmes led 26-25 at halftime before outscoring Baton Rouge, 44-28, in the second half.

Trevais Spencer led the Bulldogs in scoring with 27 points including eight three-pointers. Stanley Williams had 10. D'Michael Stribling led in rebounds with seven.

Against Southern-Shreveport on Saturday, the Bulldogs fell 67-60. Southern-Shreveport led by six at halftime, 36-30, and outscored the Bulldogs 31-30 in the second half.

Keith Gilmore led the Bulldogs in scoring with 15 while Williams had 10. Spencer and Marquell Carter each had five rebounds.

Against Hinds last Thursday, the Bulldogs suffered a heartbreaker, 69-67. Hinds led 35-29 at halftime before Holmes outscored them in the second half, 38-34, but it wasn't enough. Holmes had a shot at the buzzer but couldn't get it to fall.

Spencer led the Bulldogs with 23 points while Gilmore had 13. Gilmore and Carter each had seven rebounds.
