GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs, the North No. 2 seed, will face Jones County Junior College, the South No. 1 seed, in the semi-finals of the MACJC State Tournament today at Jones County Junior College in Ellisville at 7:30 p.m.
Holmes, who is now 16-8 overall, advanced to the semi-finals after defeating Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, 84-83, in Ellisville Tuesday evening. Jones, who is ranked eighth in the latest NJCAA poll and 23-1 overall, defeated Northwest, 107-80 Tuesday night. Southwest and Northeast will battle in the other semi-final matchup. Holmes is led in scoring by freshman guard Trevais Spencer, who is averaging 14 points per game. Freshman guard Mikkel Norment is averaging 13.6 points per game while freshman forward Justin Johnson is averaging 12 points per game and freshman guard Keith Gilmore is averaging 10 points per game. As a team, the Bulldogs are averaging 76.1 points per game and are shooting 48.4 percent from the floor, 38.4 percent from three-point range and 68.5 percent from the free-throw line.

Jones is led by sophomore forward Bruce Stevens, who is averaging 17.2 points per game. Sophomore guard David Davis is averaging 15.9 points per game while sophomore guard Rickey Holden is averaging 12.4 points per game, sophomore guard/forward Tristin Walley is averaging 12.1 points per game and sophomore guard Leito Holloway is averaging 10.9 points per game. As a team, Jones is averaging 95.6 points per game and are shooting 48 percent from the floor, 37.9 percent from the three-point line and 74.1 percent from the free-throw line.
