No. 20 Bulldogs fall to NE Tigers, 73-69

BOONEVILLE --- The No. 20 ranked Holmes Community College Bulldogs suffered their first North Division loss on the season Thursday night here to the Northeast Mississippi Community College Tigers, 73-69. Holmes had reeled off 11 straight wins before Thursday's contest.

With the loss, the Bulldogs fell to 11-2 on the season and 2-1 in the North Division. Holmes hosts Northwest on Saturday in Goodman at 4 p.m., Delgado at 8 p.m. on Monday and Coahoma at 8 p.m. on Thursday.

Northeast held a 38-26 lead at halftime before the Bulldogs outscored the Tigers 43-35 in the second half but it wasn't enough as Northeast held on for the four-point win.

Trevais Spencer led the Bulldogs with 17 points while Javon Franklin had 14 and Justin Johnson had 10. Franklin had nine rebounds and Stanley Williams had seven.

Holmes shot 41.8 percent from the floor while the Tigers shot 46.6 percent.
