Bulldogs pick up first win of the season over Northwest, 6-5

SENATOBIA --- Holmes Community College sophomore Rolando Sanchez had a hat trick here Tuesday to help lift the Bulldogs over the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers, 6-5.

With the win, the Bulldogs went to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the North Division. Holmes returns to action Friday night at Hinds at 7 p.m. They then play Itawamba on Sept. 15 at 3 p.m.

The Bulldogs went up 1-0 in the 3rd minute when Scott Hickman headed in an assist from Sanchez. The Bulldogs then went up 2-1 when Sanchez scored unassisted in the 16th minute. Hickman then put the Bulldogs up 3-1 from another assist from Sanchez in the 17th minute. Sanchez got his second goal in the first half in the 30th minute.

In the second half, Sanchez got his third goal in the 60th minute to put the Bulldogs up 5-3. The Bulldogs last goal came when Noah Scheider scored from an assist from Sanchez. The Bulldogs hung on for the 6-5 win.

In the other two games, the Bulldogs fell to Pearl River Community College, 3-1 and fell to East Central 3-0.
