Lady Bulldogs split with Marion, Ala. Lady Tigers

GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs picked up their first win of the season here Saturday with a 2-1 victory over Marion, Ala. The Lady Bulldogs fell in game two, 10-3.

With the split, the Lady Bulldogs went to 1-5 on the season. The Lady Bulldogs travel to Pearl River on Friday. The doubleheader will begin at 2 p.m. Holmes will then play Bossier, La., on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Hinds Community College in Raymond and then will play Hinds at 3 p.m. in Raymond.

In game one, Kaitlyn Doles delivered a double in the left corner to knock in the Lady Bulldogs run in the bottom of the sixth. Doles finished with three hits in the game. Victoria Hunt added a hit for the Lady Bulldogs. Kelsey Marter picked up the win giving up six hits striking out and walking one.

In game two, Doles picked up three hits as well. Marter, Alexus Moore, Kaitlyn Hicks, Darlynda Wilson and Jonissa Buchannan each had a hit. Ginny Mills picked up the loss in the game pitching 3 1/3 innings giving up five hits, six runs and walking three. Allison Ray pitched the remaining 3 2/3 giving up eight hits, four runs striking out two and walking one.
