Lady Bulldogs go 3-1 in the North Division action over the weekend
GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs went to 7-3 in the North Division after taking games from Mississippi Delta Sunday, 3-2 in 10 innings and 7-5 and splitting with Northwest Mississippi Community College on Saturday, losing 2-0 and winning 2-1.
The Lady Bulldogs went to 9-21 overall. Holmes hosts Itawamba on Tuesday in a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
In game one, Kelsey Marter picked up the win for the Lady Bulldogs. Delta took the lead at 1-0 in the ninth inning before a sliding Darlynda Wilson tied the game for the Lady Bulldogs. Delta then scored again in the top of the tenth before the Lady Bulldogs scored two in the bottom of the inning. Marter got an RBI single then Faith McCorkle walked with bases loaded for the Lady Bulldogs to take the win.
Kaitlyn Doles led the Lady Bulldogs with a double and a single while Frankie Maxwell, Darlynda Wilson and Kelsey Marter each had two singles and Kayla Blakely, Jonissa Buchanan and Faith McCorkle each had a single.
In game two, Ginny Mills picked up the win. The Lady Bulldogs jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the fourth as Allison Ray scores on an illegal pitch and Faith McCorkle knocks in two runs. In the fifth, the Lady Bulldogs score four runs as Ray doubles in Blakely, Ray and Alexus Moore score on passed balls and Maxwell scores on McCorkle's single.
Ray led the Lady Bulldogs with a double and a single and Blakely and Doles each had two singles while McCorkle doubled and Victoria Hunt and Moore singled.
In game one against Northwest on Saturday, Kelsey Marter took the loss on the mound. Kayla Blakely led the Lady Bulldogs with two singles. Frankie Maxwell and Faith McCorkle each had a single.
In game two, Kaitlyn Doles doubled to score Frankie Maxwell and Faith McCorkle singled in Doles to give Holmes the 2-0 lead in the first inning. Holmes was able to hold on to pull out the win. Kelsey Marter picked up the win. Doles led the Lady Bulldogs with two hits. Maxwell, Hunt, Blakely, McCorkle and Alecia McDaniel each had one hit.
