Lady Bulldogs fall to Lady Rangers, 11-0 and 3-2

GOODMAN  --- With only one doubleheader left, the Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs find themselves battling for the fourth and final spot in the MACJC State Tournament next week at Itawamba Community College.

The Lady Bulldogs are 13-29 overall and 11-11 in the North Division and are set to play Itawamba in the last regular season doubleheader on Friday at Itawamba. Gametime is 3 and 5 p.m. The Lady Bulldogs are tied with the Lady Lions of East Mississippi for fourth place, and the Lady Lions finish up the regular season at home versus Northwest on Friday at 2 p.m.

On Wednesday, the Lady Bulldogs fell to Northwest, 11-0 and 3-2.

Kelsey Marter suffered the loss in game one. Kayla Blakely got the Lady Bulldogs only hit of the game.

In game two, the Lady Bulldogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third inning on a two-RBI double from Victoria Hunt before Northwest answered with three runs in the fifth. Kaitlyn Doles suffered the loss. Frankie Maxwell led the Lady Bulldogs with two hits while Hunt and Faith McCorkle each had a hit.

On Friday, April 13, the Lady Bulldogs picked up two wins over Mississippi Delta, 5-0 and 8-2. Kelsey Marter picked up both wins in the games.

In game one, Doles led the Lady Bulldogs with two hits including a double while Blakely, Marter, Darlynda Wilson, McCorkle, Alexus Moore and Allison Ray each singled.

In game two, Doles led the Lady Bulldogs with three hits including a double. Shanna Evans and Wilson each had two hits while Ginny Mills and Moore each doubled and Hunt, Balkely, Marter, McCorkle and Jonissa Buchanan each singled.

On Thursday, April 12, the Lady Bulldogs fell to the Lady Tigers of Northeast, 3-0 and 6-2. Marter suffered the loss in game one and Mills suffered the loss in game two.

In game one, Hunt and Evans each had a hit. In game two, Shaw led with two hits while Doles and Moore doubled and Hunt and McCorkle each singled.
