Lady Bulldogs split with the Hinds Lady Eagles, 8-6 and 5-9
GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs picked up their first win of the season here Wednesday afternoon in a double-header split with the Hinds Community College Lady Eagles. The Lady Bulldogs won game one, 8-6, and fell in game two, 9-5.
With the win, the Lady Bulldogs improved to 1-3 on the season. Holmes travels to Marion, Ala., on Saturday, Feb. 9, and then hosts Pearl River on Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 3 p.m.
In game one, Keana Wash led the Lady Bulldogs with three hits including a double. Michelle Gregory and Katherine Pennington each had two hits. Charneissa Gordon and Kaitlyn Hicks each doubled and had two RBI. Victoria Hunt and Karin Brown each had an RBI. Katie Johnston picked up the win pitching the final two innings in relief of Kelsey Marter. Johnston had two strikeouts.
In game two, Samantha Meadows had two hits. Gordon, Johnston, Hicks and Lauren Tharp each had one hit with Gordon picking up a RBI. Kelsey Rogers suffered the loss striking out one.
