GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs went to 5-3 on the season with two wins today, 13-0 in five innings and 12-11 in 11 innings, versus the Meridian Community College Lady Eagles.
Holmes is set to play Southwest at 11 a.m. and Hinds at 5 p.m. Friday in the Holmes Community College Tournament in Goodman.
Kassey Ard picked up the win in game one for the Lady Bulldogs. Ard went all five innings and gave up only one hit striking out six and walking three. Anna Garza led the Lady Bulldogs with three hits including a homerun. Abby Stafford had two hits including a double and Lindsey Robbins had two hits.
In game two, Brett Whitlock came in the game in relief of Blair Little and picked up the win. She went three innings and gave up five runs on four hits with one walk. Little pitched seven innings and gave up six runs on six hits with four strikeouts and two walks. A'Breana Yarbrough led the Lady Bulldogs with four hits including a double. Hayden Grantham, Garza, Robbins and Reagan Aldridge each had two hits with Grantham adding two doubles and Aldridge having one.
The Lady Bulldogs scored two in the bottom of the 11th. Robbins singled and scored Garza, who was placed on second to open the extra inning. Robbins later came around to score when the Lady Eagles mishandled a ball hit by Kelsey Kelly. Charlesy Lovorn added a single and Rachel Bond got on base on an error in the inning.
