GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs opened North Division play here Saturday with a split with the East Mississippi Community College Lady Lions to go to 8-4 overall on the season. Holmes won game one, 7-0, and then fell 7-4, in game two.
Holmes is set to play Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in a 3 p.m. doubleheader on Wednesday in Perkinston and Baton Rouge on Friday in a 3 p.m. doubleheader in Baton Rouge. The team returns home on March 16 for division play versus Itawamba at 2 p.m.
In game one, Kassey Ard picked up the win going the entire seven innings. She gave up only three hits and struck out five. Kelsey Kelly, A'Breana Yarbrough, Charlesy Lovorn, Anna Garza, Blair Little and Abby Stafford each picked up one hit with Little adding a double.
In game two, Little picked up the loss. She went five innings and gave up four runs on six hits with five strikeouts and three walks. Ard came into the game in relief and gave up three runs on three hits with three strikeouts and one walk in two innings of work. Kelly led the Lady Bulldogs with two hits including a double while Lindsey Robbins and Stafford each added a double.
