Ard throws no-hitter in a 14-0 win over Mississippi Delta

ITTA BENA --- Holmes Community College freshman pitcher Kassey Ard was one play from having a perfect game here at Mississippi Valley State University Tuesday against Mississippi Delta Community College. Ard threw a no-hitter in five innings but an error kept her from reaching the insurmountable feat.

The Lady Bulldogs won game one, 14-0, and game two, 3-2 to go to 20-12 overall and 13-9 in the North Division. Holmes hosts Northeast on Friday in a huge 1/3 p.m. North Division doubleheader.

In game one, Ard threw struck out seven. Kelsey Kelly, A'Breana Yarbrough and Blair Little each led the Lady Bulldogs with three hits including three doubles from Little, two doubles from Kelly and a double each from Shelby Hoover and Abby Stafford.

In game two, Blair Little picked up the win. Little went four innings and gave up two runs on two hits with seven strikeouts and one walk. Ard came back in the final three and gave up no hits and struck out four. Yarbrough led the Lady Bulldogs with a double.
