ELLISVILLE --- The Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats used four homeruns here Friday afternoon to defeat the Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs, 6-0 in the first game in the best-of-three MACJC Playoff Series.
Holmes fell to 21-15 overall while the No. 2 ranked Lady Bobcats went to 38-2 on the season. The two teams battle again tomorrow at noon in Ellisville. Game three, if necessary, will be played 30 minutes following game two. The game can be watched live at jcjc.tv.
Kassey Ard suffered the loss in the game going just two innings. She gave up five runs on seven hits with two strikeouts and one walk. Blair Little came in the game in the third and gave up one run on four hits with three strikeouts and two walks. Little got the only hit for the Lady Bulldogs in the game.
Jones had a two-run homerun by Hailee Kolwyck, two solo homeruns from Lauren Holifield and one from Brittany Seale. The other run came on a base hit from Tori Dew in the first inning.
Rachel Hayes picked up the win for Jones. She went all seven innings and gave up the only hit to Little in the seventh inning. She recorded nine strikeouts and no walks.
