Lady Bulldogs lose North Division game to Lady Tigers, 80-74
GOODMAN --- The Coahoma Community College Lady Tigers came roaring back in the second half after trailing the Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs by three at halftime to take the North Division win, 80-74.
With the loss, the Lady Bulldogs fell to 14-4 overall and 7-2 in the North Division. The Lady Bulldogs travel to Mississippi Delta Community College on Monday at 6 p.m. The games can be watched online at holmesathletics.ihigh.com.
The Lady Bulldgos jumped out to an 11-point lead at 24-13 with 11 minutes to play in the first half after a three-pointer and a two-pointer by Dierra Gilmore. Coahoma took their first lead at 28-27 with 4:22 left in the first half on a bucket by ShyVuna Johnson. Kierra Gilmore hit three three-pointers to put the Lady Bulldogs back up 38-31 with one minute to play before halftime. Holmes lead 38-35 at halftime.
Coahoma tied the game on two different occasions before the 10 minute mark of the second half and the Lady Bulldogs took a nine-point lead at 64-55 with six minutes to play on consecutive three's by Kierra and Dierra Gilmore. Coahoma took a 71-70 lead with 2:45 to play on a bucket by Ciara Morgan before Louise Collins gave the Lady Bulldogs the lead right back at 72-71. The Lady Tigers took the lead for good at 74-72 with 1:30 to play with a three-pointer by Chandrika Pearson.
Kierra Gilmore led in scoring with 18 points while Dierra Gilmore and Louise Collins each had 15 and Amber Clay had 14. Louise Collins, Amber Clay and Kia Funchess each had seven rebounds. Kierra Gilmore shot 50 percent from three-point range while Dierra Gilmore hit two-of-three from three-point range.
