Lady Bulldogs fall to Lady Wildcats; fall to 3-2
GOODMAN --- The Pearl River Community College Wildcats came here Thursday night and picked up a 70-60 win over the Lady Bulldogs to even the season series up at one game each.
With the loss, the Lady Bulldogs fell to 3-2 on the season. Holmes will play in the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Gulf Coast Classic on Monday and Tuesday. The Lady Bulldogs will play Gulf Coast on Monday at 2:45 p.m. and Baton Rouge, La. on 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Pearl River jumped out to to a 9-1 lead with 17:59 to play on a layup from Daiquari Raine. At that point, the Lady Bulldogs began to make a comeback and pulled within two points on a layup from Krystal Baker with 14:45 to play. Denesha Dillard hit two three-pointers during a two-minute span to keep the Lady Bulldogs within two points. A Baker layup with with 4:47 to play tied the game at 28. Pearl River led 37-33 at halftime.
Tamia Gady made two consecutive layups with 13:38 to play in the second half to give the Lady Bulldogs the lead at 41-40. The lead grew to six points with 11:04 to play when Grady added another steal and layup and a a free throw to put Holmes up 49-43. Pearl River then retook the lead with 7:57 to play on a Wisdom James layup.
Dasha Adams tied the game at 55 with 3:55 to play. Pear River then retook the lead seconds later and pulled out the 10-point win down the stretch.
Grady finished with 20 points while Dillard had 14 and Miles had 10. Miles led with six rebounds.
