Lady Bulldogs fall in hearbreaker to the Lady Indians, 67-66

GOODMAN --- The Itawamba Community College Lady Indians trailed the Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs for 39 minutes here Monday night but found a way with 13 ticks left to pull out the win 67-66 win.

With the loss, the Lady Bulldogs fall to 9-4 overall and 1-2 in the North Division. Holmes travels to Baton Rouge on Thursday at noon.

The Lady Bulldogs held a 17-0 advantage until late in the first quarter when the Lady Indians got on the scoreboard with a free throw. Itawamba scored the final six points of the quarter and trailed 17-7 after one quarter. The Lady Bulldogs then outscored the Lady Indians, 22-13, in the second quarter to hold a 19-point lead at halftime, 39-20.

Holmes was outscored 19-10 in the third, and the Lady Indians begin creeping back into the game trailing by 10, 49-39. Marlee Hatcher hit one of her three three-pointers with 13 seconds to give Itawamba the one-point lead and the win.

Aja Williams led the Lady Bulldogs with 18 points while Cortrice Golden had 14 and Tiffany Jones had 13. Jones led with nine rebounds while Williams had eight.

Holmes shot 45.3 percent from the floor, 33.3 percent from the three-point line and only 57.1 percent from the free throw line.
