Lady Bulldogs fall to Itawamba, 62-55

FULTON --- Despite leading 26-24 at halftime, the Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs suffered a heartbreaking 62-55 to the Itawamba Community College Lady Indians here Thursday night.

With the loss, the Bulldogs fell to 14-6 and 5-4 in the North Division. The Bulldogs host Mississippi Delta on Thursday night at 6 p.m. and then host East Mississippi on Feb. 15 at 6 p.m. and end the regular season on Feb. 18 at Northeast at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Bulldogs are in fourth place in the North Division.

Itawamba led 14-12 after the first period and then the Lady Bulldogs outscored the Lady Indians 14-10 in the second period to lead at halftime, 26-24. Itawamba scored 19 points in both the third and fourth periods while the Lady Bulldogs scored 11 and 18. Itawamba led 61-52 in the second half.

Cortrice Golden led the Lady Bulldogs with 11 points while Aja Williams and Minyone Hill each had 10. Golden and Tiffany Jones each had 11 rebounds in the contest.

Holmes shot only 39.6 percent from the floor and 57.9 percent from the free-throw line. Itawamba shot 33.8 percent from the floor and 59.1 percent from the free-throw line.
