GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs scored 45 points in the opening half to jump out early in Thursday night's MACJC North Division contest over Mississippi Delta Community College and went on to win 90-55.
With the win, the Lady Bulldogs go to 15-6 overall and 6-4 in the North Division. Holmes hosts East Mississippi Monday at 6 p.m. before traveling to Northeast on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. to finish out the regular season. Holmes led 21-10 after the first period, 45-21 at halftime and then outscored Delta 27-15 in the third period before being outscored 19-18 in the final period. The largest lead of the game was 38 points when the Lady Bulldogs led 74-36 in the fourth period.
Aja Williams led the Lady Bulldogs with 22 points while Cortrice Golden had 16, Kawaii Perry 13 and Tiffany Jones and Minyone Hill each had 12. Golden led in rebounds with eight while Laricka Morgan had seven.
The Lady Bulldogs shot 55.2 percent from the floor and 64.7 percent from the free-throw line. Delta shot 35.1 percent from the floor and 62.5 percent from the free-throw line.
