Lady Bulldogs to square off with Jones in the state tournament

GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs finished up the regular season strong and will go into the MACJC State Tournament as the North's No. 3 seed.

Holmes, who finished 17-6 overall and 8-4 in the North Division, will face the South Division's No. 2 team Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Itawamba in the MACJC State Basketball Tournament. You can listen to the game on breezynews.com or watch live at letsgoicctv.com.

Holmes is led by sophomore guard Aja Williams, who is averaging 19.4 points per game. Sophomore Tiffany Jones is averaging 14.8 points per game while Minyone Hill is averaging 9.7 points per game, Cortice Golden is averaging 8.8 points per game and Kawaii Perry is averaging eight points per game. As a team, the Lady Bulldogs are shooting 43 percent from the floor, 27 percent from three-point range and 59 percent from the free-throw line.

Holmes is giving up 61.78 points per game.

Jones is led by Tatyana Lofton, who is averaging 16 points per game. Wendion Bibbins is averaging 13.2 points per game while Hanah Lott is averaging 11.3 points per game and Myyah West is averaging 10.5 points per game. As a team, the Lady Bobcats are averaging 75.7 points per game and are shooting 42 percent from the floor, 28 percent from the three-point line and 70.1 percent from the free-throw line.

Jones is giving up 67.56 points per game.
