GOODMAN --- Holmes Community College sophomore guard Aja Williams has been named Third Team NJCAA All-American.
Williams, who signed with California State University Bakersfield in the fall, helped lead the Lady Bulldogs to an 18-8 record this season and appearances in both the MACJC State Tournament and the Region XXIII Tournament.
The Jackson native finished the season with an 18.5 points per game average which placed her 22nd in the NJCAA. Williams shot 49.5 percent from the floor, 27.4 percent from the three-point line and 54.8 percent from the free-throw line. She averaged 6.1 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.1 steals per game. She was named All-Region, First Team All-State and a MACJC All-Star.
As a freshman, Williams helped lead the Lady Bulldogs to both tournaments as well. She was 29th in scoring in the NJCAA with an 18 points per game average. She shot 39.8 percent from the floor, 31.3 percent from the three-point line and 70.8 percent from the free-throw line. She averaged 5.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.3 steals per game. She was named First Team All-State.
