Holmes rolls over Baton Rouge for third straight win

GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs picked up their third straight win here Monday night with a 64-56 win over the Baton Rouge Community College Lady Bears.

With the win, the Lady Bulldogs move to 4-6 on the season. Holmes goes back into division play on Thursday night at Mississippi Delta at 6 p.m.

Baton Rouge led 19-18 after one period of play before the Lady Bulldogs took control at halftime to lead 35-27. Each team scored 29 in the second half of play giving Holmes the eight-point win.

Nina Carpenter led the Lady Bulldogs in scoring with 12 points while Vaquela Pimpton had 11. Carpenter led with 10 rebounds.

Against Southern-Shreveport on Saturday, the Lady Bulldogs won 79-66. Holmes led 38-28 at halftime and then outscored Southern-Shreveport 41-28 in the second half to pull out the win.

Pimpton led Holmes with 13 points while Aneisha Evans had 12. Brittany Webster had eight rebounds.

Against Hinds last Thursday, Holmes knocked off the previously unbeaten Lady Bulldogs of Hinds, 75-63. Holmes led 41-28 at halftime before being outscored by one point in the second half, 35-34.

Pimpton led the Lady Bulldogs with 22 points while Destiny Cyprian had 16 and MiKayla Patton had 10. Webster led with eight rebounds.
