SCOOBA --- The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs pulled out a huge North Division win here Monday night versus the East Mississippi Community College Lady Lions, 76-73.
With the win, the Lady Bulldogs improved to 10-6 overall and 4-2 in the North Division. Holmes hosts Itawamba on Thursday night in Goodman at 6 p.m. You can watch live at http://www.letsgoicctv.com/RED.
East Mississippi led 19-13 after one period and 38-34 at halftime. The Lady Lions outscored the Lady Bulldogs in the third, 19-15, before Holmes poured it on in the fourth, 27-16, to overtake East Mississippi and pull out the win.
Ja'Breonia Veasey tied the game with a three-pointer at 68 before Kamelia Lacy put Holmes on top, 71-70, with a minute to play before the teams swapped leads until Lacy hit two free throws to put the Lady Bulldogs up for good with 30 seconds to play. Veasey added two free throws and Aneisha Evans had another to solidify the win.
Veasey led the Lady Bulldogs with 19 points while Lacy had 18. Brittany Webster pulled in 11 rebounds.
Holmes shot 40.7 percent from the floor, 36.4 percent from the three-point line and 92.3 percent from the free-throw line.
