Holmes defeats Ark. Mid-South, 68-58

GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs finished off a season sweep of Arkansas State University Mid-South here today, 68-58, after defeating the Lady Greyhounds, 75-71, earlier in the season.

With the win, the Lady Bulldogs improve to 14-7 overall. Holmes travels to Clarksdale on Monday to play Coahoma Community College at 6 p.m. before hosting East Mississippi on Thursday at 6 p.m.

The Lady Greyhounds led 17-16 after one period of play before the Lady Bulldogs took over the lead for good at 33-26 at halftime. Holmes outscored Arkansas Mid-South, 35-32, in the second half for the win.

Holmes shot 41 percent from the floor and 74.3 from the free-throw line.

Kamelia Lacy led the Lady Bulldogs with 17 points while Nina Carpenter had 15 points. Carpenter missed a triple double by three blocks after adding 15 rebounds and seven blocks in the game. Brittany Webster added seven rebounds while Vaquela Pimpton had five.
