GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs won four straight games to finish up the regular season with a North Division championship but will go into the MACJC State Tournament as the North's No. 2 seed due to MACJC tiebreaker rules.
Holmes, who finished 16-7 and 9-3 in the North Division, tied with Northeast for the North Division title, but the Lady Tigers will get the No. 1 seed due to tiebreaker rules. The Lady Bulldogs will face the South Division's No. 3 team the Southwest Lady Bears at noon on Tuesday at Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia. Holmes is led by sophomore guard Kamelia Lacy, who is averaging 13.3 points per game. Sophomore guard Vaquela Pimpton and sophomore forward Nina Carpenter are averaging 10.3 points per game. As a team, the Lady Bulldogs are averaging 67.3 points per game and are shooting 40.8 percent from the floor, 28.2 percent from three-point range and 65 percent from the free-throw line.
Holmes is giving up 59.6 points per game.
Southwest is led by sophomore guard Danyelle Lewis, who is averaging 12.3 points per game. Sophomore forward Keturah Bingham is averaging 11.6 points per game. As a team, the Lady Bears are averaging 67.6 points per game and are shooting 41.6 percent from the floor, 35.1 percent from the three-point line and 69.5 percent from the free-throw line.
Southwest is giving up 55.13 points per game.
