RIDGELAND --- The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs are heading to the MACJC/Region XXIII Tournament Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. versus Jones County Junior College.
Due to inclement weather, the location has not be set. The match will either be held at the Jones County football field or at Hattiesburg High School, which has artificial turf.
The Lady Bulldogs come into the match with a record of 8-6-1 and will be the North Division No. 3 seed while the Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats are 11-3 and will be the South Division No. 2 seed.
Holmes is led by Kylee Laird, who is a freshman forward from Florence. Laird finished the regular season with 19 points and was the leading scorer in the North Division. Laird had eight goals and three assists. Micaela Robinson, freshman forward from Moody, Ala., was the third leading scorer in the North and had 17 points on eight goals and one assist.
Jones is led by Kelly Stubbington from London, England. Stubbington leads the state in scoring with 51 points on 23 goals and five assists. Traci Monroe is second in the state with 37 points on 17 goals and three assists, Dallas McKinnon, who has 22 points on eight goals and six assists and Lindy Tabor, who has 19 points on seven goals and five assists.
In another matchup, East Central is hosting Meridian. Pearl River and Hinds won the division and await the winners in the MACJC/Region XXIII tournament in the semifinals.
