Holmes recognized in latest NJCAA poll for first time in team's history

The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldog soccer team made history on Tuesday by becoming the first Holmes' women's soccer team to ever be recognized in a NJCAA poll.

The Lady Bulldogs, 13-1, finished just outside the Top 20 at No. 22 for 10-25-16. The poll can be viewed at http://www.njcaa.org/sports/wsoc/2016-17/div1/polls.

Holmes is appearing the MACJC State Tournament at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and will playing Gulf Coast at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Holmes is the North Division No. 1 seed while Gulf Coast is the No. 2 seed from the South. The South No. 1 seed Jones County will be playing the South Division No. 3 seed Pearl River at 1 p.m. On the men's side, Hinds will play Jones and Gulf Coast will play Southwest later in the day on Saturday. The women's final will be on Sunday at 3 p.m.
