Phillips and Giles named Holmes CC Players of the Week

GOODMAN --- Holmes Community College sophomore forward Kristen Phillips on the women's soccer team and sophomore defensive back Dandreyus Giles on the football team have been named Holmes Community College Players of the Week following their play last week.

Phillips, a West Lauderale product from Collinsville, scored three goals for the Lady Bulldogs in matches with Heartland and Pensacola State last week. Phillips and the Lady Bulldogs will play Parkland and Northeast on Saturday and Sunday in Champaign, Ill. at noon both days.

Giles, a Holmes Central product from Lexington, had a big night Thursday in the Bulldogs' season opener in Summit vs. the Southwest Bears. He finished the night with seven tackles including four solos with one pass breakup and two interceptions with one resulting in a touchdown for the Bulldogs. Holmes won 48-31 and will face Copiah-Lincoln on Thursday night in Goodman.
